TEACHER PROFILES

CORINNA COSENTINO

Owner of Lotus Pilates, Corinna Cosentino has been teaching movement for over 30 years. She discovered Pilates as a young dancer in Chicago, training with Amy Halaby de Sa, a student of Romana Kryzanowska—one of Joseph and Clara Pilates’ original protégés. She went on to deepen her practice at Frog Temple Pilates with Randi Whitman, who trained and graduated from the renowned Boulder Pilates Center.

In 2001, Corinna moved to Bloomington to attend graduate school at Indiana University and began teaching Pilates for the IU Jacobs School of Music ballet majors. She opened Lotus Pilates in 2003 and moved to its current location in 2005.

In 2020, Corinna renewed her studies in the GYROTONIC® method, first explored as a dancer in Chicago, and began the certification process to become a trainer. She has since expanded into specialized applications, including the Jumping Stretch Board and programs for osteoporosis, and continues to advance her training in this method.

Over the course of her career, Corinna has worked with professional dancers and athletes as well as clients recovering from surgery or managing spinal and joint conditions. She continues to learn from every body that walks through the door and feels privileged to be part of so many healing and wellness journeys.

JILL BRADY

Jill discovered Pilates in 2010 while living in Oak Park, Illinois, and turned that passion into a teaching career after relocating to Indiana with her family. She earned certifications in Reformer and Mat Pilates through Balanced Body and has been teaching both since 2018.

Jill joined Lotus Pilates in 2023 and is currently expanding her expertise with specialized training in Tower and Chair Pilates under Corinna Cosentino. With a background in law, she brings the same sharp focus and thoughtful attention to detail to her teaching as she did to her legal career.

Welcoming students of all levels, Jill especially enjoys introducing beginners to Pilates and helping them build strength, confidence, and a lifelong love of movement.

Doreen.jpg

DOREEN DEVITT

Doreen is a qualified Comprehensive Pilates Instructor, certified through Balanced Body. She first came to Lotus Pilates in 2005 as a student, starting with mat classes and later adding equipment classes. Though she had always stayed physically active, she felt frustrated by her limited flexibility. Pilates changed that—she loved how the equipment combined strength and stretch, and for the first time began to see real improvement in her mobility. She often said Pilates made her feel both more flexible and younger.

With a professional background as a speech-language pathologist, Doreen spent her career working with children, adolescents, and adults facing a wide range of communication challenges. As she neared retirement, she began Pilates instructor training, inspired by the benefits she experienced herself.

Now teaching at Lotus Pilates, Doreen enjoys introducing Pilates to new students and supporting clients with diverse physical needs. She is especially passionate about helping people improve posture, build upper body strength, and cultivate greater awareness in their movement.

DJ GRAY

DJ has been teaching Pilates and the GYROTONIC EXPANSION SYSTEM® for over 20 years in both California and New York. Her movement journey began at age 7 as a competitive swimmer, a sport she continued through college, where she became a four-time All-American. In her final year of college, DJ discovered her passion for dance. To build a dancer’s physique, she turned to Pilates and GYROTONIC®, techniques that not only provided a strong foundation but also supported her in healing injuries. Sharing this knowledge and insight with others through teaching quickly became her true passion.

DJ received her Pilates certification from Long Beach Dance Conditioning in California under the guidance of Marie-José Blom, and trained in the Gyrotonic Expansion System with Master Trainer Lisa Marie Goodwin. Her Pilates specialties include pre- and post-natal training, injury prevention, advanced repertoire, hip and knee replacement, and body mechanics using Master Stretch Boots and “Elvis.”

In addition to her teaching, DJ has worked on Broadway as both a performer and an associate choreographer on multiple productions. She recently relocated to Bloomington to join the faculty at Indiana University, where she teaches Musical Theatre Dance and choreographs for main stage productions.

SANDRA KUEBLER

Sandra has been practicing Pilates since she came to Bloomington in 2006.  She began her Pilates Certification program at Lotus Pilates with the goal of getting a deeper understanding of the techniques and the methodology and started teaching in 2017.  She works as a professor at IU and uses Pilates as a way of letting go of stress irritations from everyday work life.
